The theme of Dystopia is a future gone wrong. A terrible disaster created a nightmare future where strange, sometimes beautiful, things reside!
1. You can get a good idea of the style of building by looking at the official town buildings. There are no block restrictions: if it looks good, go for it! But I find that the following blocks work well with the theme:
Iron block, stonebrick, stone slab, black/grey/light grey wool, netherbrick, netherrack fence, and to a lesser extent cobblestone.
2. Don't build with just one type of block. That never looks good.
3. If possible, plan your build in single player creative first. It's a lot easier and should lead to better results.
4. Stay within the boundaries of your lot. If you want to build outside of your lot - for example to add an overhanging balcony - you may be allowed but should ask the mayor or town architect first.
5. Basements can be built up to 10 blocks below the ground level of your lot. If you need more space contact the mayor or town architect.
6. As well as the general Dystopia theme (such as District 1 and most town buildings) there are 2 special districts: Wonderland and Utopia.
o Wonderland is located in a swamp biome behind the town farms. Its theme is, as you might have guessed, Alice in Wonderland - a colourful, slightly creepy, crazy town. Make good use of colourful wool and other bright blocks. Also we will accept pixel art-type builds such as top hats or playing cards.
o Utopia is a safe haven within the nightmare world of Dystopia. Its theme is heavenly, sandy, and pleasant. Recommended blocks are sand, sandstone (of all types), birch wood, lava and water. Be aware that not all is always as it seems tho!
7. Different districts have different height restrictions. If you require more height you must ask mayor or town architect first.
District 1: y = 90
Wonderland: y = tba
Utopia: y = tba
8. Lastly if you have a cool story for what your building is or why it is in this future world then try to include it in the building. I'd love to see creative ways of telling stories with your buildings. Most importantly: Enjoy and have fun!
